In the Vale of York, Dunesforde is a four-acre, boutique vineyard established by the Townsend family in 2016. Inspired by the vineyards in Tuscany and the Roman heritage in the area, it is believed that during their long occupation of Britain the Romans were the first to grow wine in the local area. Dunesforde’s first harvest was in November 2019 and in June 2020 the first wine went on sale.

In July 2024 the Dunesforde Vineyard won the Tom Day Trophy for the best single Varietal white wine for their Pinot Gris 2022 at the annual WineGB awards, a huge achievement for the family and the team.
