At Oxley’s, we understand the importance of colour and love it when our customers opt for colourful outdoor furniture as it brings life and character to an outdoor space. With the release of 2023s Pantone colour of the year, we thought it was only right to take a look at what colour schemes and trends we can expect in 2023. Last year was all about experimenting with colour and using exciting and bold colour palettes. Post pandemic, we wanted colour and life brought into our homes and we did this by getting experimental. 2023 looks to focus more on colours with earthy tones and rich contrasts, paired alongside soft pastels.

This experimental time during the pandemic has led to people being less afraid to express themselves through bold and colourful choices, which we have seen within the outdoor furniture industry. Taking the leap and committing to a daring colour they may have otherwise been too nervous to choose. Colour within your home and garden is a truly personal choice but we have taken a look at some of the soon to be popular trends in 2023.

The Red Family

Pantone have recently announced their colour of the year as Viva Magenta, describing it as ‘an unconventional shade for an unconventional time’. It is a shade rooted deep in nature and descends from the red family, paired alongside an earthy tone or soft pastel it will give a nice pop of colour that will create a beautiful contrast.

Soothing Greens

Soothing greens have been everywhere recently, with the soft earthy tones making their way into many homes and gardens. Playing strongly into the side of nature, it may seem obvious to add shades of green into your outdoor space, but they are often overlooked. Adding an earthy or pastel green creates a playful yet classy look to a room or garden.

Softer Bolds

2022 was all about bold and bright whereas 2023 brings a more understated look, still opting for bold colour choices but toning down the brightness. This will create a sense of calmness and serenity but still allows you to express yourself with colour. An understated take on a beautifully bold colour.

Jewel Tones

Jewel tones are colours originating from gemstones such as Emerald, Sapphire and Ruby. These colours are strong and powerful which makes them eye-catching without being overbearing. Using these tones on a feature wall or for the colour of your hotel outdoor furniture is sure to add an air of class and sophistication without overpowering the space.

Neutrals with a twist

When we think of neutrals, our mind immediately goes to white, grey and beige but in 2023 try to think differently about neutrals. They don’t have to be the usual plain colours, put a spin on neutral. A pale blush colour or a faint undertone of blue keeps things simple and subtle but still adds colour and personality.

Colour has so much power over a house or garden and can instantly create a feeling or atmosphere. Whether for a large garden or small terrace, we have always offered a range of colourful choices for our outdoor furniture to give people a chance to really express themselves through colour. We are excited to explore the colour trends for 2023 and see how they will be used within homes and gardens.
